Add and Remove Authorized Billing Users for MyChart Payments – Help Desk

Authorized billing users have access to another guarantor's billing information in MyChart without needing to be a proxy. Unlike proxies, authorized billing users can see and manage a guarantor's billing information but can't access information like diagnoses and upcoming appointments. You might make a proxy an authorized billing user if they aren’t the patient’s guarantor and need billing access, or you might give someone billing access without making them a proxy if they should be able to see and act on the guarantor account but should not make medical decisions for the patient. For example, several siblings might have authorized billing access to an aging parent's guarantor account so that all of them can help manage the bills. You can set up authorized billing users in the Guarantor Edit activity.

Be aware that clinical information, like provider names, procedures, and tests, can appear on billing statements. If a patient doesn't want to share any of their clinical information with an individual, do not add that individual as an authorized user to the patient's guarantor account.
